I bought a chocolate cichlid and a red lutino oscar within a couple of days of each other with plans on putting them in the same tank. Both fish were around 3.5". I put them into a 35gal while I ready their 75gal. Over the first couple of days the chocolate starts beating on the oscar, tattered fins, couple missing scales. I put an egg crate divider in.
Now the chocolate has ripped the oscars mouth apart through the divider :screwy:. I thought chocolates were supposed to be docile

Anyway, here is the damage, think its fixable?

The piece of his mouth on the left side of the first pic flips in and out when he breaths.
The second pic in on an inhale and it is flipped in...

He is still able to eat normally.

Burt :)

add some salt and some mela and pima fix keep the water very clean and should heal up in no time....

ya this will heal really quick, and the oscar will soon outgrow the chocolate, so there should be no problem once there is a size difference. if not, keep the choc in the 35 alone untill there is a big size diff or for life.

should heal up oscars love to eat so it will adjust

not sure. i had a red jewell that had part of its bottom lip ripped off and i tried salt melafix etc. never healed
