Will this heal

This could heal or not heal. The fin piece missing looks too deep to heal quickly if it ever does. The cb PBB probably damaged it when really young. Bichir fins normally grow back quick when slightly damaged, but this is quite bad. The fin could also never grow back. I had a lapradei with a big split fin that never grew back, and I had him over a year. So, this is a hit or miss situation, but based on my past experiences with these kinds of wounds, I do not think it will heal. Hao Hao probably has more info about this.

It should heal. I currently have 3 bichirs missing parts of tail fins (finally found the culprit). They all grow back. Got an endlicheri named flipper because one of his front fins was ripped off in a feeding while a baby. It was probably 50% regrown prior to getting attacked by the cannibal again last week.

They’re one of, if not the hardiest fish being dinosaurs with lungs. Even my EX-roommate couldn’t kill them with 2 long dead oscars and a few more cichlids rotting and nitrates&ammonia over any test in existence for weeks and the water a creamy grey colour while I was out of town working for a month and the roommate decided to stop doing the water changes I paid them to do.

I agree. If it's a recent damage, there might be hope it'll grow back. But if it's been like this for awhile, good chance it won't grow back.

Should heal up with clean water and make sure it’s eating.
