I recently got a 5" BD hybrid and just wondering if those spots on its back will ever turn white as it's quite brown at the moment. So will they remain brownish forever?
Not 100% sure but from what i have seen they usually get brighter and daughter as they get older. The fact that it's a hybrid makes it impossible to know for sure.

There's no way to know for sure with hybrids. I have hybrids whose spots stayed brownish for years and then turned white. I've had BD's that are pure that were always cream colored spots never icy bright white. I have some that were pure white from the day they were born. Most spots are cloudy and brownish when born then whiten up after a few weeks/months/years.
Key word is hybrid, you don't know what kind of genetics are lurking in there waiting to be expressed, they can change for the better (and make the seller cry for not charging more) they can change for the worse (and make the buyer feel remorse). Both scenarios are part of the game. That's why many pups are around only 1k (USA). For high quality pups from a proven bloodline you start paying more and more for potential. Pups are always a gamble, especially hybrids. Some of the best looking rays in the world are hybrids IMO. But you can have siblings that look completely different. If you want a stunner adult ray that has already changed and blossomed you could be paying up to 10k or even more for the right proven quality genetics.
Just love it and enjoy the ride You may be pleasantly surprised.
