I house some of my fish in rubberaidmaid containers, if i were to spray paint the backs of the containers with the black spray paint (as a background) would this poison my fish in any way?

Depends what paint you use. From what I've heard Krylon Fusion is safe, I don't know how well it will stick though.
yes you can find krylon fusion at walmart. i have used it for tank decorations with no ill effects just make sure you give it time to cure before refilling with water
im using it on the outside back of the container, will it seep to the inside of the aquarium and poison the fish?
Just to clarify is the paint going on the inside or outside of the tub? If its on the outside any paint will work but if its on the inside you need fusion. Either way it won't seep through any plastic.
