Looking at purchasing one of these fiberglass tanks
http://www.aquaticeco.com/subcategories/945/Fiberglass-Tanks-With-Window/

I would like to filter it with 2 Eheim 2262's.

So this brings up 2 things I am unsure of.

1. Is it possible to drill and use bulkheads on these fiberglass tanks?

2. If I have a bulkhead installed on the back of the tank really close to the bottom, if this is plumbed to be the intake for the Eheim 2262, would it work?

Is it possible that having the hole at the bottom would cause too much flow for the Eheim 2262? I'm just not sure how it works. I know I would need to install a shut off valve on each valve so I could stop flow from entering the Eheim 2262's so I could clean them, perform maintenance, etc.

Thanks in advance

1 - You could drill fiberglass, but it would take time and patience as the drill bit has a tendency to chip the edges of the hole.

2 - Yes it would work.

1) Yep if you use a proper fiberglass drill bit

2) Yes this is how I've done my fiberglass tanks

3) !!! These are from Guppy's Aquatic supplies in Malaysia if you want a truly GREAT system buy the extra top filter (in fact buy two one for each end)

Should work. I looked into these a while ago, but the prices are Much higher than I expected . I would personally would rather buy a new glass or acrylic for an additional 2-3 hundred dollars before I bought one of these, although i guess it depends on the application.

What do you intend on using it for?
