I have a young spotted Raphael catfish only about three inches or so right now but a super fattie. He dwells in a dumb light house decoration that I've had forever, but Its taking up a lot of room and I just want to remove it. The last time I tried getting rid of it my Raphael refused to come out and I didn't want to end up hurting him so I let it be.

If I take out the house while he is out of it will it cause him a lot of stress when he turns around to go home and it's gone? Hes going to out grow it as well and I don't want him getting stuck. So should I remove it and let him find a new hiding spot or should I just wait?

does he come out when the lights are off?

if he does, turn the lights off and take it out when he's out.

no it won't stress him out too much. it'll take him a little bit, but he'll find a new home. no worries.

i always just take the decor out with the fish inside, after a few seconds they drop back into the water. they realize whats happening and decide they would rather breathe through there gills than try to instantly grow lungs. lmfaoooooo. spotted raph's are stubborn as hell arent they, im sure he will find a new hiding spot just fine.

thats lucky cause ive had spotted raphaels that would not leave regardless of being able to breathe.

Haha thanks I'll take it out when he's eating or something. Yeah he would not come of of that thing no matter what I did when taking it out before beyond stubborn and I don't want him dead I love my little 007 :p

I think they can breathe air for a few minutes anyway. But it would be better to wait for him to leave it first, as mentioned.

You'll be good. He'll just hide behind the heater. You can also replace the light house with a small plant.
