will this stuff work on an aquarium rebuild?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Its not about Strength. Its about cured toxicity. But that product says 100% silicone so I would think it is ok. If it was the only thing available I would try it. But why try to reinvent the wheel. GE silicone 1 windows and doors is a proven product. Or any other stated aquarium silicone.

Also RTV is an acronym for room temperature vulcanization. RTV can be applied to anything that cures in room temperature, from elmers glue to Epoxy resin. So it being RTV doesn't make it stronger. What its made of is what counts. This product is as strong as any other 100% silicone adhesive.

I use ge1 often just want opinions on this stuff also to see if ne one has used it b4

According to the MSDS on this, it contains 2 hazardous materials. Moreover, the product appears to interact with water (although it doesn't say if the interaction is before or after curing.) GE 1 does not list any hazardous materials.

I'd pass.

if any one has heard of Momentive RTV108 it's the commercial brand of GE 1 and it's stronger and is used all the time.
