will this wood hold this tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
still learning myself but I'm sure it would help an expert anwser your question if you anwser mine..... First what type of wood? Second how much rock/tank decorations do you plan on using(weight besides the water alone)? Third possibly irrelevant but do you live near an airport, railroad track, fault line(earthquake zone) or something of the likeliness that may cause it to shake? O yeah looks SWEET(throw some stain on her it'll look even nicer!)!!! How long it take ya?

it took 1 day to build it so far, its just simple pine wood from scandinavia, no weight besides water , i dont like stones , i like plants, and no no airstrip, earthquakes or other things like that

Nice stand, how high is it? If it's higher then 700mm then I would turn the studs the other way,are you going to put some ply backing on it? you will need something to brace it, quite a bit of weight is going to be sitting on it.

in total he is 85 cm high, but ill put some more studs in today i guess 8 more

Yeah that will be good, go 500mm centres, and If it's not difficult for you, turn the studs the other way, same where the tank will go, 500mm centres and studs not flat but the other way, you can put some triple grips or something similar on the sides like you have done already but on the side, on each one, this is only for the top, this will be able to hold the big weight your putting on it, don't forget the bracing to. :D

It looks good so far! If you are going to cover it in 1/2" (12mm) or thicker plywood, I think it will be fine. If you plan on covering it with a thinner paneling you should definitely add some diagonal bracing for stability.

ive got plywood 18mm thick to cover the top sides and back , where you see the big square in the middle thats where my sump s gonna be,

so i should put more studs in top of the frame?
