I will post a picture tonight.

Built an acrylic 4' X 2' X 2' aquarium with a 55g sump tank below.

About six inches from the top - a 2" bulk head strainer - gravity pvc drain line down to sump.

Then push sump water back up to acrylic tank with a Mag 18.

Mag 18 is left wide open.

2" gravity pvc drain is throttled back quite a bit.

Having a difficult time keeping the water level even between the tank and sump. Tips ???

I think my tank might get dirty with the gravity drain being so high up the wall. Maybe add a 90 degree turn and bring the strainer basket half way down the tank?

Was trying to keep the back wall of the tank clean and orderly.

Thanks, Matt

A 2" drain pipe will drain 2400gph and the mag 18 only pumps 1800gph. You may need to put a ball valve on the drain pipe or upgrade your pump.

Not true. It can't drain off below the level of the drain, so there isn't a problem. Unless you consider turning the tank 15 times an hour a problem. I hope you split that to at least two return lines or it will be a jacuzi.

Also the mag 18 is a 3/4" return so going to 1" won't do anything except spend more money.
