I read on another forum(don't know if it was on here or not)
this kid was breeding guppies as feeders and bought the following.

30 gallon clear rubbermaid from walmart
cheap heater and filter
log decoration for fry to hide
(until he seperated them into a 5g)

I was going to give it a try once i have my 55g set up wit my GT
You think it would work good? or just a waste of time:confused:

id say just feed ure gt pellets and flakes and some blood worms... but if u want to do that project i guess it would work

:iagree:i don't think it's really necessary to breed guppies to feed a GT, but if u think it's fun to breed em then it would be fine :D

That would work technically. I'd however just use java moss, and some water lettuce floating on top, and you'll have damn near 100% fry survival rates. No need to separate. 30g can hold a lot of guppies. Also if you can get green water going, your fry growth rate will skyrocket, and will never lose any, due to pea soup green water, they won't be viable, and the fry will have an unlimited food source to eat on , when your not feeding them. To get the green water, you'll have to skip using plants, but you'll want to replicate that, while getting it setup. Cutting scrubbies in half, and fanning them out, and lining the bottomw ill replicate this, until your pea soup green water establishes. You could always seed it from someone's green pond :D

I have a small guppy breeding PROJECT for my altums' feeders. I enjoy it as much as the monster side of my hobby.
