I am going to buy a teacup sting ray, and I would like everyone advice i have a 75ga tank. First will it be big enough for a teacup? 2ND the tank allready has mollys (like 5, 1 inch long) and loaches (dojo, golden,& kooli) will they both the ray? 3rd question is my substrate i a small river stone, not sharp, will this work?

75 gal will be enough for a teacup for a few months, what are the dimensions of the 75 gal?
Your loaches and mollies will start to disappear as the ray finds its appetite, there is no doubt about that
Smooth small gravel would be OK, how big is this river stone?

There are some great articles on here about rays, what they need and how to keep them, it may be worth giving them a look before spensding cash on a ray.

Your filtration needs to be oversized for the tank and you have to keep on top of the water changes.

Steve :)

"Teacup" is really a broad grouping of several species of ray-hystrix, reticula, and scobina are among them. Assuming your filtration is up to par (ideally, 250GPH + canisters) you'll be alright for a while. Just don't go overboard with feedings. I'm an advocate of small feedings once a day, and a large feeding once a week. Tank mates will most likely become lunch, btw.

As they said, tankmates gonna be feeders for a while. 1-2x a week water change is a must. And before putting the ray in your tank, check for parameters first. Ammonia, nitrites and nitrates if they are in a safe level. What kind of filtration do you have? If you don,t have any canistes, get one and it'll help alot. Your substrates will be fine as long as their not sharp. The downside is, you can't get to see them when they go to camouflage mode as your sunstrates are stones. But other than that, your good to go.
