Okay for the most part I have always kept cichlids for atleast 15 years. Yesterday I was watching how empty my tank looked and decided to start to set up the pond-anyways I was not really inspired then my buddy came over and we had a few cold ones. I noticed he kept staring at my Umbee and Dovii and after a few hours asked me about the fish-I told him I was tired of the aggression and did not want to set up a 1032 gallon pond for two fish and a bunch of target fish. Two hours later he offers me $300 for them-so I took it we took his fish to his home and put them in a pond which appeared to be half the size of mine but good size none the less.
Which leads me to this question-I just ordered a TSN, Achara Cat, and a Clown Knife will they be compatible and can I add more fish-right now since my pond is cycling I will have them in a 240 gallon tank-so can I add any others-I was thinking other cats-Jurenese maybe or a Silver Aro what about a Payara-thanks for your help and I think this site had a lot to do with my change in fish I have seen a lot of pics of awesome predators and have decided it's time for a change.:)

these are titled as the top 2 most aggressive fishes aligned together with brute force and aggression to others...the umbee can take a whole 450 gallon easy to his own territory and a dovii can take a 180-240 by itself if a male and a bonded pair...if you want you better save up and buy or make your own 1,000-2,000 gallon to get these two fishes with others with the minimum aggression level...and buy lots and lots of target fishes I have my umbee and dovii and female red terror together and are constantly fighting...so that why im selling my wild caught dovii and keeping these two...these are the one that somewhat co-exist...only if they stay on their side of the tracks

Oh, what about a Saddled Bichir?

just try all the varieties you can think of my by the most part...those two's aggression will pull through others in the tank...but you never know you may have a somewhat rare specimen thats calm...

catfish lover-not to be rude but did you read my thread correctly? I got rid of the dovii and Umbee-and I know how aggressive they can be I have kept cichlids for 20 plus years-that is why I am switching to something else-tired of the aggressions-plus I have a 1032 gallon pond on stand by.

I love cichlids and that has been my thing for years but I have grown tired of going to the LFS and not be able to buy a nice looking fish cause I have psychos that is why I let my friend take them out of my hand-ashame as they were both very attractive.

The catfish you have listed above are fine together, but sometimes they can be very aggressive towards catfish of the same species unless you give them a properly sized tank to suite them. Marble cats can get 30"+ and tsn can get 38"+ easily in the home setting, and can go even larger I'd say that you are going to need a large pond or tank around 10' x 4' x 2.5-3' eventually, but you have a great start for them right now. My only concern would be the clown knife. Mine was quite aggressive and would bite the sides of my catfish, and in the end his growth rate was too slow to keep up with my catfish and he was eaten. You can hand train your catfish to take food from your hand and even be petted.

oh, and even though jurense can get large, they grow relatively slow in comparison to the others and you will end up housing it on it's own so that it won't get eaten. Mine is growing slow and steady.

sorry i read through it too fast...my mistake and well yes those catfishes would be fine together as for what necrocanis has stated already

Sorry guys but I yesterday I picked up my Umbee from a LFS-(the whole story about that is in the cichlid forum) So I guess catfish are out of the equation now and I have decided to have the Umbee by himself for a while in the 240 gallon and next summer set up the 1032 gallon pond and maybe then get some cats or target fish-anyways thanks for your help!
