I bought a 10 gallon whisper filter today for my fry tank. It currently has a sponge filter, but I wanted some added filtration and air.

I cut up some of the bio foam and put it around the outside of the intake filter to protect babies from being sucked in. I was told this would act as a sponge filter.

Will this work okay? I hope it won't damage the filter.

Pumps do better pushing rather than pulling. Restricting the suction side typically causes pump failure due to cavitation.

Sponge filters are the champions of fry tanks. Circulation is not a requirement for most fish. In fact, for many fish, high circulation can be deadly.
