the guy at the lfs gave 4 2in buttikoferi so without thinking I put them in with my 4in dovii to give him something to chase around for a little while and hes doing a good job at it so my question is do you think they might pose a threat to my dovie because Ive heard that young dovii are kind of wusses

As long as they don't gang up it might not be a problem but butti's can be little bastards, but eventually the dovi will get the upper hand and most likely kill all the butti's. How large of a tank are they in?
