my house
I have 2 1.5'' ElectricBlue Jack Dempsey's together in a 45 right now. I have also a 125g with 2 10'' florida gars and a 4'' female REG JD. I want to buy a senegal bichir. I just saw 2.5'' senegals at petsmart the other day. I can't put a senegal of that size in the 125 right now for obvious reasons so my question is; can I put a senegal around 2.5'' long safely with 2 1.5'' EBJD's? which by the way are fairly aggressive. I'm more worried about the EBJD's more than a senegal. Those little EBJDs set me back 95$ after shipping :)

bichirs do not do well with overly agressive tankmates sorry-Anne

Bought a 3'' senegal last night. The EBJDs don't even pay any attention to the bichir and the bichir pays no attention to them. Also the EBJDs usually feed from the surface when the bichir almost exclusively feeds from the bottom. I haven't seen one fiber of aggression from any of the three fish. They seem to be great as of yet. I'll have an update with pics in a short while

I hope it works out for you just remember as fish mature they can become agressive and teritorial-Anne

I would've said go for it if I read this sooner. I have kept EBJD with bichirs before, and they are mainly aggressive to other cichlids, I never saw it take any interest in my bichirs.

That they're currently ignoring them is a good sign, but Jack Dempseys of any stripe bear watching outside of a species tank.
