will this work?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think as long as there isn't a female they should be okay but wait for more experienced advice from someone else other than me.

Yes, it will work out just fine. If you had two males and one female it would not work. If you had one female and one male it would work but you would have tons of fry. I have a 75 gallon tank with tons of cons. They breed like rabbits. But it should work out just fine for you.

Thanks Chicklette!

"Tons of fry" is exactly what I don't want.
I want to keep the 55 gal set up and cycled in case of aggression issues or disease in my big tank. So I thought a couple of male cons would be good. I could swap them with the problem fish from the big tank and not worry about them getting picked on. What they can't beat up they can out run. They are also one of my favorites.

You need to provide some hiddings, like driftwood and rocks. How big are they? If they are still juvenile, it should be ok.
