I have several aquariums I take care of with this type of set up. They work fairly well but the wet / dry is a little smaller than I prefer.

It that a repair I see in the bio ball area? Looks like a broken peice that was siliconed in. Although that is not an area of major water pressure, might be a thought to repair it better. Silicone does not adhear to acrylic as well as it does glass. A thin piece of acrylic glued with acrylic glue patched over that area would be safer and not expensive.
 
oh, I just re read your original post. THat is not a sump, it is an aquarium with a wet/dry filtration system built into the back of it....
