Do anyone have a Festae in the same tank with a True Parrot Cichlid (Hoplarchus psittacus), I have a 360 gallon and wanted to try them together, at the moment they are in different tanks. The true parrot are larger than the Festae, Festae is about 6" and True Parrot about 10". The True Parrot is currently in the 360 gallon tank, I would just be adding in the Festae.

Just a thought.
Where True Parrots come from, east of the Andes, thay are found in large communities of various cichld species coexiting.
Where festae come from west of the Andes (Rio Tumbes), they are often the only cichlid in their entire habitat, and loners.

Kind of like Mayaheros beanii, on the Pacific coast of Mexico,

or N haitiensus the only cichlid species in Hispaniola

....usually....
they don't play well with others in the cichlid world.....but
Whether this will be signiicant in a tank the size of a 360, will be the gamble

I have personally found Festae to mostly be pretty good tankmates as long as the tank is large enough and the other fish are not Festae of the same sex. I have a 450 now and the festae pair are mixed in with smaller cichlids. They are the dominant fish but don’t really bother attacking the other fish.

Festae are allegedly caught alongside A. rivulatus and C. amazonarum in the Rio esmeraldas but I still agree that Hoplarchus shouldn't be with them just based on parameters and personality.

Definitely with A. rivulatus, yes, but C. amazonarum? If that’s the case these must have been introduced? They naturally only occur east of the Andes and not in Ecuador.

Is the Festae male? from my experience True Parrots are not as aggressive but again with a tank that size they maybe able to stay out of each others way

I want to thank everyone for the input, with all the information giving, I will not try it, It sure is good to confide in people with knowledge, it keeps me from making mistakes, thanks once again :)
