I recently bought 2 3"-Dats and put them in a community with a CK, albino CK, BGK, a Del, 2 palmas polli, a TT eel, a peacock eel, 2 albino Sens, and 2 black mollies. How long will this community work? I know I have to move the CK's later, and the mollies will probably be in a poly's stomach soon, but will the rest grow more or less at the same rate so none would fit each other's mouths? Will this work longterm in a 180g? And I hope you could also ID the new Dats. I'm attaching photos for reference. Tnx!!!

Pare how big is the tank now? The dats look like Indos ;)

Right now, they're in a 60g growout. The knives have a 220g waiting for them, while the polys have another 220g already set-up. I plan to have the Dats and the eels stay in the 60g for awhile, as I understand they are slow growers (this are my first Dats). The Dats are already eating feeder guppies. Anybody knows how to wean them off live? I've tried frozen krill and frozen BW, but they showed no interest. Tnx!

Yeah, dats are slow growers.

The main thing with converting them off of live foods is to only offer them prepared foods...don't give in. They will eventually take it. I've had luck with active feeders being in the tank...like clown loaches or even my arowanas. When the dats see a feeding frenzy, they can't resist.

I've also had luck with putting food in the flow of the filter return. That way it animates the food and often triggers the dats feeding response.

Good luck.

I'm attaching a clearer pic of my Dats (at least a side shot of one). Are they confirmed IT's? Tnx.
