Hey all, Picked up two small 1,5"-2" juvies
I was wondering if its possible to grow them out in my 120 that is lightly planted and home to 6 medium sized angels and a group of rosy barbs.

From what I know about this species, theyre good with plants and will eat smaller fish. Most sources say that they leave other fish alone but dislike their own species.

Do you think they would ignore the angels?
If not I will grow them in my 80g with the other cichlids

Thanks, Rafini

So I decide to put one in each tank, considering they have a high conspecific aggression.

In the 120g I put the smaller one. hes exploring around, hiding completely ignoring everything. Angels don't treat him any different to how they treat eachother. There is no challenging or aggression going on.

in the 80g I put the slightly larger one, same story. hes hiding mostly. Ignoring and being ignored.

They seem to be very easy going fish, They remind me of the Red bay Snooks I had a few years back. I`m ready to catch and move at any point but for now I will see how it goes.
When I get my DSLR back I`ll take some pics when they are settled in.

Hope it works out. Specabilis is a beautiful species and would love to see pics.

Give it a try, but if they are similar in size they will not be eating anyone, anytime soon, and by then you will see if they can coexist together.

Thanks guys, the fish that is in the peaceful tank with the angels started eating yesterday. went crazy for NLS flakes and even took a few sinking pellets.

The one in the 80 with other cichlids is doing fine but he didnt eat yesterday.
