Is there any issues with using windex to clean the tank glass? (e.g. will it corrode silicon?? or any unforeseeable issues)

Note: empty tank, and just being used on the outside to take away the grease/oil that was used to attach a backdrop.

You can, but you are better off using a non ammonia product because any mist that gets inside the tank isn't good for it's inhabitants. A lot of people use vinegar, but there are some cleaning products that are a little safer. It won't damage the silicone, though.

Works fine. Spray it on your wiping device away from the tank, rather than spraying it directly on the glass.

I've done the above to many tanks for many years... just don't spray it in the water...

As for using it to clean an empty tank being prepped, feel free to use it inside and out. Just wipe the inside with a damp cloth or paper towel.
