Winter catfish feeding

I put a channel/blue catfish in my pond this summer but hadn't put any thought into feeding it during the winter.

I know the koi aren't supposed to eat when the temp is around 50 or less, what about the catfish?

If he is supposed to eat, how do those of you who have catfish in your koi pond feed you catfish in the winter while making sure the koi don't eat whatever your giving them?

Give him plenty of protein (in the fall) to condition him for the winter. He should not have any food giving to him, since him metabolism will be way low w/the temp. There will be plenty of microbes and such should he get hungry, but will probally go into a hibernative state like the other fish.
