I re homed my trio of tinfoil barbs to a neighbor down the street that has a backyard pond today. My question is how cold can they be allowed to get ? The info I have found so far says 68 F. I am able to take them back in the winter but if they can take the cold I would not have to. The temp in the winter gets to -20F sometimes for a week or 2 at a time. Has any one here had exp. with these and wintering ?

i've kept tinfoil at temperature of 65f before, but thats was for about 2 weeks, when i went on vacation. i think tinfoil are tropical fish, so i wouldn't risk leaving them in water under 65F. besides your temp might go below freezing, so you'll still need to get them inside anyway. tinfoils don't really perform well outside thier normal temp.

Thanks for the input and that is what I thought but had to ask any way.
