Ever breeding pair I've had seems to need Dithers. I really don't want the extra fish. Is it possible to have just some breeding Cichlids without Dithers? My breeding pair of Salvani bred when I had them in the 75g with the Dats and GT, but I moved them to their own 50g and they would fight without Dithers. The male almost killed the female. And the Convicts I used to have...well...the male killed the female and I didn't have Dithers with them.

You could always try putting pictures of other fish right outside the tank. Or maybe try holding a mirror up for a little bit at a time.

What about Firemouths? I hear they're mildly aggressive and breed easily. Do they need Dithers?

sure with an established pair you can breed them with out Dithers dithers are usually only needed when your worried about one of your fish killing its mate
