My own happy little world
Hi,

Can someone ID my wolf fish for me and tell me what is going on with its eyes? i got him a week or so ago with his eyes like this (see pics in this thread http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=181590)

I have raised the temp of the water and added some aquarium salt but i am unsure as to what else to do?

Thanks for any help ID'ing and with the eye problem.

Ian

It's a Hoplias malabaricus.. the common wolf. He looks nice, how big?

As for the eye it's hard to tell in that pic but he could have scrapped it against the driftwood. Temps around 84 should help heal it quickly I believe. Never dealt with eye injuries.

He is about 8". The damage to his eye was done before i got him and is on both eyes. i will raise the temp up to 84 (currently 80).

How big are Hoplias malabaricus likely to get in an over filtered 75g? will he be ok in there for life? i know the max sizes for mala just not realistic sizes.....

Upwards of 18" realistically.. I keep my 8" mala in a 50 breeder which is the same footprint of a 75g. He'll be there until he reaches 15" or so.
