Wolf Fish Identification, Aimara or Curupira???

Ordered a wolf fish the other day from the Lfs, when I asked what one it was he said "columbian wolf" I was confused as I had never heard of a wolf being called that but I figured I would take my chances and order it anyways. When it came in I was expecting a hi fin but got this instead! Now I'm curious as to which one he is, anyone have an idea?

I thought the malabaricus was a salt water fish? He was labeled fresh water Colombian wolf...

Not Saltwater, there is no species of saltwater Hoplias.

Damn I was hoping for one of the active ones and ended up with the least active of them all... Thanks for the info

That's not necessarily true, some malas are pretty active.

Hopefully he is one of them so far he hasn't done much, any tips on making him more comfortable and increasing the chances of him being more active?

Make sure that he has a "cave" of some sort to find comfort in. After settling in, you should see him coming out more and more to explore the tank and for meal times.

Okay I'll be sure to build him one, would a current make him feel more at home?
