wolf fish legality

hi i was wondering if the Red Hi-Fin wolf fish or otherwise known as Rainbow wolf fish (erythrinus erythrinus) is legal in washington state?

To my knowledge only the Hoplias species of wolf is restricted in certain states.
 
oh really? cause i thought i saw a couple youtube comments on the Red Hi-Fin wolf being illegal in some states? Can anyone give a for sure answer on this yes or no?
 
awesome thanks for the help, from what ive seen these seem to be the most passive of all wolf fish and ive researched it a bit, suprisingly people keep these with other semi-aggressive tankmates. Ive seen bichirs, eels, and dats kept successfully with the Hi-fin wolf fish. Im really considering getting one, they seem FULL of personality. plus they stay small :)
 
Legal...Mudfrog is correct about the certain Hoplias species in certain states. The problem with the common names, is that people probably associated that all "Wolf Fish" are Hoplias.

I keep mine with bichirs and catfish. Even kept it with eels as well. Just make sure there are lots of hiding spots for the other tank mates and they need to be big enough to not become lunch. I have lost several $15-20 fish to my Red Wolf :D
 
are they legal in hawaii????
