Wolf fish primer

I'm in the process of setting up a tank for my daughter and letting my kids pick out the fish. My daughter saw justarn justarn vid of his red wolf and likes him.

I have an empty 75 and a 300 bichir/cat tank. What species would I like ? Which could stay in the 75 for life with a couple of med sized cats and bichir grow outs and which would need to graduate to the 300.

moe214 moe214 I know they are your fav so looking forward to hearing from you.

Rapps has some black wolves are those the ones that get huge ? He also has a gold but it's 10 inches I'd rather grow them out.

Last thing, what vendors do you get your wolves from ?

I'm thinking a black would work in my tanks 75/300 gals

This is what's available to me purple, red, black, and Columbian (common?)

What if any combo can be kept in a 75 gal ?

Would a black eventually need to move to the 300 ?

I have a mature Purple Wolf fish in my 180 gets along well with the Polys I have now. When I had large Ornate's he would occasionally flare up at the dominant of the 2 females lol but nothing physical ever was observed.

How big is your purple ? Think I would get away with a purple and red together in a 75 ?

In your opinion who would be the most out going purple, red, black

Keep one and avoid mixing other wise you lo lilely end with one.

Go with a red it’s more active.

Brotha you need to get yourself an aimara. Telling you from experience after owning almost all wolf species there’s nothing like an aimara. The interaction is awesome. Aimara grow slow enough and it’ll be fine in your 300. They move but not much lol. Idc what people say “oh it’s a 6’ Monster that needs blah blah blah shut it” show me one half the size and I’ll swallow my words. Black wolf is an amazing fish but the end of the day you’re gonna look at it and be like dang I wish I gotten the aimara. At least that’s how I felt.

The Wolf is about 10 inches but thick.
I would say most suggest getting a Red Wolf for the specie is more active.
 
Lmaooo Dloks Dloks let me start off slow brosky....plus my daughter is picking so you know how this goes.

So in a 75 to start off only.go with one wolf. Red would be more active but would it be ok with a couple of cats like jags, small Polys and other similar sized cats.

From what I read it's all over the place some sites say reds are the calmest others say they are the worst of the small wolves.
