i have now had my second wolf fish for about five days....my other one i had to give away a while ago,and since having that one i kinda know thier behavior... ok well heres whats goin on..he hasnt eaten anything since i got him, hes in there with 2 parrot cichlids and every time i feed him beef hearts or shrimp..it just floats by him and he shows no interest..the parrots end up eating it..i also know a wolf fish stays at the bottom and kinda scoot around once in a while...well this one stays in a little cave all day long...i turn the lights off and on in a few hours and hes out on the bottom but swims to his cave as soon as the lights are on?? my other one was out day or night..it just seems wierd...and the last thing is he has a pink tip and bottom lip it looks like he ran into the tank a few times before i bought him..like it looks raw..so i dunno if maybe thats why hes acting wierd and not eating.. is any of this normal cuz ive been stressing over it the past few days texting?calling my gf to see how he is??

so i have been treating him with melafix i know it will take time...but if anyone out there has had a wolf fish like this or can give me advice or whatever please feel free...thanks

if it has babies, send me one.

its been a while since u posted but i hope i can still help. its perfectly normal for a new wolf fish to be like this. i have owned 4 wolf fish in the past and still own 3 and every single one of them did the same thing as yours. It'll take a couple of weeks for them to start eating again and about month for it to be comfortable eating in front of you. Put whatever your feeding your wolf next to him, turn off the light and walk away and u may notice it gone in a couple of minutes when u come back. Also, every wolf fish has its own personality. Two of my wolves does the same thing as yours hiding in caves all day and coming out at night, and rarely eating in front of me. The other one comes out of his cave when i walk by the tank thinking its feeding time. O the cuts on his head is probably from him trying to jump out of the tank, keep a good lid on. When a wolf is stressed it'll try to jump. And since it was in a cramped bag then put under unfamiliar enviroment I'm pretty sure your wolf is a little stressed =] give them some time to adjust. Wolf fishes are very hardy so you really don't have much to worry about.
