wolf fish tank mates

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Living in San Jose will cut you down to the Red Hi-Fin Wolf since H. Malabaricus are illegal in California. The good news is that it seems that Red Wolves seem to tolerate tankmates better that H. Mala.

I wouldn't mix anything with him that you care about. I've seen these things in action...and it can be ugly for anything that's with them.

and are they active or do they just chill in one spot of the tank

Get the red wolf, he'd do great in a 100g. He'll mix with bichirs, catfish, eels, you name it. Just make sure he can't fit the tankmates in his mouth and your set :)

I might get one of those red wolves myself!!! My friend has a common wolf fish that he keeps with a Midas and some Oscars. At 7" he's already had a taste of all his tankmates and at the rate he's growing, it's just a matter of time before he loses it and decides to inflict fatal wounds. He's incredibly smart (for a fish) and deserves a tank of his own. If you do decide to put yours with tankmates, think big, aggressive and quick.

ok and how active are they do they just sit at the bottom of the tank and chill

or do they take full advantage of the tank space

depends.
some fish move only when they beg for food.
some move all the time.

anything can be kept with them that cant be eaten or cant eat them.
also, red wolves fight each other and things that look like them.

Is anyone selling Red Wolves coz I am struggling to find anyone who is. HELP ME !!
