Hello,

I've decided that I'm going to sell one of my ten gallons and replace it with a tank for a wolf fish.
Would a 40 breeder suffice for one red wolf for life?
What kind of tankmates would be possible if any?

And if Indytexy comes across this one, thanks for talking me out of my previous idea.

Everytime when i see a 40 gallon breeder, i always think of a red wolffish. It'll be perfect for life. Redwolves can be kept with tankmates but it can be risky. All depends of personality. I kept mine with bichirs with minimal damage. Just some torn fins. You can basically keep any tankmate that is too big to eat.

What about a Ctenopoma?

Ctenopoma can work if the wolf is pellet trained. My buddy had a massive red wolf pushin 12" with a 6" cteno. Worked very well. They dont seem to take broad fish as food. More the thin flighty fish. Ctenos grow slow tho so u want to get a fair size one to start with. He also had a datnoid a bit smaller which did turn into food. Very nervous fish tho for some reason.

upper jaw bichirs.
