Has anyone kept a silver aro with a wolf fish? is this possible? Would be my first choice of tank mate for my aro, but was also considering gar, peacock bass, and any other predators. Someone help me out here.

Thanks.

Don't know about wolf fish, could possibly work if sizes were right.

Gar/ arowana combos can end badly.

P-bass are good as long as tank size is sufficient.

p-bass will be a good companion. wolf fish might end up chewing off chunks of silver arowana's tail because they have got very small tail that goes like <. so it's better not to.

Sorry for reviving this thread, but I was recently considering this for my Mala. He's fine in the 90 for now, but he's really started eating a LOT, so I'm not sure how much longer this tank is going to suffice. My only other larger tank is my 180 where my silver aro lives.

Do you think the wolf would still nip if the aro was significantly larger? I feel like they would make a nice combination in the tank.

I keep two different species of Wolf, 4 wolves in total with my Silver Arowana (In a 360g). If anything, the Silver is the more aggressive when it comes to the Golds (Hoplerythrinus U, biggest is 14") which i assume is down to them competing actively with the silver for food. Everyone steers clear of the Curupira. The important thing is, and will always be, the space requirement to avoid conflict.

All you have to remember is the wolffish does have teeth. So any nip on any other fish could end up bad for that fish

That is interesting. Essentially, I want to keep 60% fewer fish in half the space. My only real concern in the temperament of my wolf. He seems pretty aggressive, whereas my silver is a TOTAL wuss.

It is a 6x2x2 tank, and neither fish is full grown, so hopefully they would have enough room to co-habitate.

While small, a 180g will be fine asa grow out, as long as the Mala isn't as big as or bigger than the Aro. That said, different fish have different temperements so who knows how they'll react to one another.

It's always a risk with Wolves.
