I am looking into wolf fish. Not for one of my current tanks because I dont have anymore space but maybe getting another tank. Can anyone suggest some kinds and if anyone can tell me about what size tank I need and any other specific care details that would help. Thank You.

Common is said to be the most aggresive.I wouldnt put an adult in anything less then a 75.

Temp=80-85
Current=slow to none
Feeding=Best at night before going to bed,eat pretty much anything smaller then them,meats pellets.
any thing else just ask

Okay and about how big do the adult commons get? Thanks for the info. Could they go with a 7 inch oscar in lets say a 150?

They usually get up to around 20 inches in captivity.Id say if the wolf is smaller then then him when you get him then yea theyll be fine

Wolf fish are logs on the bottom of the tank...Very boring..your oscar might get killed at night....

im sure that depends on the wolf fish but yea im scared for my oscar

it does depend on the fish and jusyt make sure the wolf is smaller

I WOULD NOT put a wolf with an oscar common wolfs are generally very aggressive and the oscar would have NO chance against a wolf if the wolf decided he doesn't wan't tank mates the only time ive seen wolfs with other fish is in large set ups with alot of tankmates sort of an over stocked set up like people do with cichlids

I would look into gold or rainbow wolfs they are smaller and you would have a better chance of putting them with other fish

common wolves are NOT the most aggressive species.
as long as the oscar is larger it should be fine.
commons are actually fine with fish of around the same size or bigger.
and its even less risky if the fish are raised together when young.
i currently have three together with a pacman catfish and will be with many other tankmates as well once they get a bit bigger.

lacerdaes and aimara are the largest and most aggressive.
aimara gets to 4 feet while lacerdaes range from 2 - 4 feet.

erythrinus erythrinus and gold wolves are the more peaceful species.
ery gets to 8 inches usually while gold wolves get to 16 inches usually.
erythrinus erythrinus are extremely aggressive to anything that look like another ery ery.while gold wolves can be kept in groups.
these two are also the most active species.

feeding is generally the same for all species.
meaty foods are the best.
some wolves will take pellets.
