I am now finalizing my organization of my wolf tank, and I will be getting a red wolf, but I need a tank mate, it is in a 45 gallon breeder and I was wondering what would be a good tank mate or two for him, and also act as a clean up crew

A wolf fish needs atleast 55 gallons to start and a 75 just for him. If your gonna have a a mate or 2 i would get a 125

idk, i wouldn't call a 125 necessary for a red wolf, from what i've been reading a 45 breeder would work, but i would definatly think about an upgrade as cichlid suggested. I've heard of senegal bichirs working well with wolfs, never owned a wolf, but i intend too, and i've done some research on them. Not sure if the bioload would be optimal tho in a 45 gallon. if you were to get a senegal, i'd up the tank size to at least a 75 if not bigger.

You're good with the 45 gallon for a while bro. I think Cichlid was thinking mala. I'd just get a medium size species of pleco for the tank and you're good. You could probably add some small tetras, but know they'll eventually be snacks for the wolf.

He hasn't said what the filtration for the tank is, so I wouldn't bring up the bio-load being a problem just yet.

Bichirs are good tank mates. I keep mine with catfish and just recently added some silver dollars for a little variety. I had a Senegal with him for about 1.5 years but the Senegal just recently died of bloat. No issues with the two though.

As for tank size a 45 should do for a while. Mine is kept in a 50 breeder (footprint of a 75). I consider a 48x18 minimum for an adult as they are fairly active.

I think those two cichlids would harm your redwolf.
