Was talking to a buddy discussing a next fish venture and started talking wolfs.i had a aimara and it was the biggest waste of money.laid in the tank like a turd.no interaction or personality. I want a aggressive but personable species.what you guys think

Gold wolf if you can find one...What did you do with that aimara you had?

My choice would be Curupira. Fairly active but not overly so and the only fish I ever had that'd eye-ball me anytime I was in the same room as him, like he was trying to figure me out. He'd pull up to the glass hovering leaning left then right always slowly positioning himself to get a better look at me. Easily one of my most regrettable re-homes.

+1 Personally, I've never kept them but my lfs has one who's about 18" long and acts like a dog. I'd buy one in a heart beat if I ever find a juvenile.

Did your buddy have it in a community tank or alone? I've kept mala, curupira, and erythrinus sp. tahuayo each in it's own community, and the curupira and erythrinus were the most owner responsive. They both beg for food, hover around and watch me, and wag their tails like dogs, the mala couldn't care less about me unless it was feeding time.

Most wolf's are gonna be logs. Ery or Curu I guess would be your best bet. My Mala was pretty interactive.

erythrinus are the most active. i've heard that curupiras are an active hoplias species too.

I've only owned 2 species of Wolves.

Of those 2 I'd say Lacerdae.

I think a lot depends on how they're raised and how much work you put into them though......
