i was actually researching to find a predator to go along with another fish i was planning on getting, and i think i might just get a species only tank with a wolf instead. Problem is i can't find much info. I was planning on getting a 125 wide, so i think the red wolf would be best. Does anyone know of a forum with some more wolffish info? I cant find much info on tank size, or any other info about these fish.

well i was originally planning on putting a senegal bichir, a peacock eel, charax gibbosus, and an african knife in a 125 wide. The tank was for the senegal, and the charax was for eating up any extra feeders i had.(i was planning on breeding) and the rest was to give the tank some more activity and color. But a wolf fish just seems like it would be more interesting

how big of a tank would a Hoplias malabaricus need to live comfortably? I'm thinking a common wolf would be the kind i'd like to get, but i'd rather not get an extremely massive tank. I heard the common wolf gets about 20 ", is this true for aquaria, or in the wild?

a 120g (4x2x2) or bigger if you can. the 2ft width is better than 18" width.

so wolffish would rather a large footprint than height right? i've read they can breathe air as well as bichirs. Is this true, and if it is should they have a lower water level to breath from the top as well?

Howdy,

Indeed, wolves can breathe atmospheric air - but they do not have to. 18'' water level is fine.
