what kind there are a bunch of varieties

which species?
erythrinus erythrinus gets to 8 inches usually.
hoplias malabaricus gets to 20 inches usually.
hoplias aimara gets to 4 feet.
hoplias lacerdae varies in size because of all the variation,
some get as big as aimara.
feeding is generally the same for all of them.
any meaty foods will do.

Very can be very aggressive so dont put it with any fish smaller than it or any fish you really like for that matter no matter what size. Feed market shrimp and beef heart (nutritionally debatable) along with silversides etc etc.

if you get a red wolf have atleast a 55 gallon if its any other kind (besides aimara, which it will not be unless it costs $5,000) will need atleast 100 gallons with a deep tank (not tall).

I added a juvi dovii to my wolf fish tank but I have a divider in there. It's quite funny cause the wolf fish will get right up to the divider and just watch the dovii as if it's stalking it. It's really quite funny.
