My guess is that it's not very common, but I swear I think about stuff like this every time my cat licks me.

Hello; The important question may be is there actually more cases of these bacterial infections showing up now or is it another case of more comprehensive reporting and the incidents are at stable over time numbers.

If there are truly greater numbers of incidents I can dream up a few untested hypothesis for it. But all bad news.
