South Florida
Saw a fish stick its top fin out of the top of the water today very much like a shark in a very large canal. The fin was kind of curved back

I am in South Florida. This was in a large canal on the very edge of the everglades in south florida. For those who live down here. The griffin road canal 1 mile from US 27. For those who do not live down here its about 20 - 25 miles inland.

Does anyone know what this fish might be?

There are WAY to many fish in FL to even narrow it down without more description or pic...

size? color? etc.

Dark Silver to Black. Approx 3 feet or bigger. The top fin kind of reminded me of a Paroon Sharks but I dont think thats what it was. I have seen this before and no one could tell me what they are. Ive seen smaller ones inside Everglades national park.

maybe a tarpon

Around here, I often see common carp doing that while feeding. Down in Florida, there are just too many fish to really take a guess.

i think it might be a carp i see them doing this at a local pond all the time. is it just the very top if the fin of most of the back?
