Is it normal to have a dozen robins bopping around an upstate NY yard? This seems abnormal to me ....it is cold..i mean really cold... and they are acting like its spring..can someone answer this question because it is bugging me.. does it mean early spring..does it mean they are doomed to die in the next blizzard..this is january..and i just cannot believe they are either back from the south or never left??:D:grinno::confused::confused::confused: If you don't believe me i will take a picture...

You know what, I've been seeing robins around where I live for the past 2 weeks. They've been eating the fruit off our flowering pear tree. I don't know what it means but boy, it sure doesn't feel like spring yet.

i saw a bunch of black birds on one lawn the other day... my block has a lot of houses and these birds where at one house... hundreds of them... looked like attack of the birds... isnt that a bad omen. like someone died or sumtin?

Your watching too many scary bird movies.......i hope thats the reason anyway...

I have noticed that flocks of birds of all types have been flying in all directions around here usualy u don't see any flocks this time of year they should be in mexico or maybe evan further south than that.I have seen flocks going due east like out to the atlantic ocean i don't know what they are planning on doing out there but yeah Liz i have seen some weird bird activity this year. Oh and vicious fish Robins are strictly meat eaters they like worms, bugs i doubt they where eating fruit and shouldent all the trees be bare in P.A. this time of year? I am no expert on birds but that is what i have been told about a Robins diet from a bird watcher a while back i wonder how they find food like bugs way up north shouldent the ground be literaly frozen up there how could they get at a worm?

Nope, they eat berries and fruits trust me. That is the only thing they can eat in the winter should they get stranded someplace cold or when the ground freezes. Sugar in the fruiut helps them stay warm. Flowering Pears have small, cherry looking fruits that stay on all through winter until they are eaten by birds and other wildlife.

I will be sure to let this bird watcher know that their info is incorrect i see her a few times a year so i guess she don't know much about the birds she likes to watch huh?
