I wanna use some branches and stuff that I can find around my house as decorations in my enclosures instead of going out and buying stuff........

My question is how would I have to treat the wood so I could use it in my tanks? Can I even use the wood in my tanks? Thanks guys..........

i have used alder branches but you want to be careful of what type of wood and there may be parcites in it.... you could boil it the dry it out quicker under a spare heat lamp

Well obviously I'm gonna do that boss........I'm just trying to get a basic idea of what needs to be done to cure wood for tanks..........

I'm not going out just grabbing random sticks and throwing them in my tank.........Just wanted to get an idea of what needs to be done then I'll see what I can do...........

good luck!...sorry if i overstated the obvious

same thing, hot water,i always wonder too if thats enough but i dont realy do it much.Make sure you use non toxic trees and nothing like poison oak and such,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,jk.

I think most dried branches from native, deciduous trees are fine. Such trees would be maples, oaks, locusts and cherries. I would avoid Walnut trees as well as all members of the conifer family.

I ALWAYS put them in the freezer for 12 hours, Then cook them in the oven for 30 min. at 400º. Then let cool, then put back in freezer for another 12 hours. Let warm to room temp, and WAHLAH.
