Wood ID

Hi,I found this piece of wood on the beach and I was wondering if anybody could help me identify it to see if it's ok to put it in my fish tank.

Yeh it definitely is wood
If I had to guess I would say I'm 99% sure it has come from some sort of tree

I'm not sure you can use that bud, it looks reaaaaaalllly fresh to me.

Is it a hard wood? Easy way to tell: push into it with your thumb nail; if your nail pushes into it then its likely too soft, if it makes your nail bend then you may be ok.

Of course a good cleaning and some soaking is suggested. Test it in a tub or another large container and see if/how it changes the water parameters.

Sorry I cant ID it, maybe someone will chime in that knows what it is.

I agree that it does look quite fresh but will also admit its an awesome looking piece.

I know it should be obvious, but I am color-blind. Is the wood orange? Looks like what we call hedge here in the states, latin name--Maclura pomifera
