I found this cool piece of maple wood on this tree i removed i was wondering if i could place it in my tank without it messing anything up? I was going to soak it for a couple of weeks in a bucket to clean it up a bit. Would it be ok?

Boil it/Bleach it

There could be some undesired critters or microbes on the wood which you can't see. Best way is to nuke the entire wood.

just got it. Not sure but i think it will float until it soaks awhile. If so i will just put weights on the bottom. Can't wait to add it

It's gonna take FOREVER for the tannis to come out of that. I'd would put that fresh piece of wood in my tank.............

I wouldn't trust it. I learned the hard way just get wood made for aquarium use. I lost an expensive L-25 pleco this way.
