Wood Trim around Tank

Hey Ya'll...

I've picked up an additional tank for one of my fish and it has a wood trim around the top(It's very heavy duty). I want to sand it down and re-seal it..and paint it black.

Was hoping someone on here would recommend a safe sealant and paint that I could use

Is it real wood? Most people use krylon fusion for objects inside of the tank as for sealants/silicone I'd look into the DIY section. Lots of threads there about tank builds and the materials used, I've never needed to reseal a tank so I don't remember which are good and which are toxic.

Yeah..just used kryon fusion..gonna let it set for awhile..see how it works..thats what I read though so..hopefully read's are good.
