I have a 90 gal blackwater tank I heard adding wood will make the water soft and give me more color in the water. How much wood and what kind.

I'm not sure about water softness, but Malaysian driftwood does contain tannins that will yellow your water. However, I'd imagine they'd eventually all come out, and the water would turn clear again after so many water changes. It's beautiful wood, though, and really makes the fish look great.
