I've been home sick since Monday afternoon. I went to the doc on Tuesday and they diagnosed me with the flu, thought it was the swine flu. I went and had a nasal swab done Tuesday mid-morning. I got the results on Wednesday, not the flu.

I went to the dentist yesterday because of a terrible tooth ache that I've had since Friday, it's gotten to the point that I can barely talk, sleep, eat, drink, or swallow. I'm miserable. Come to find out I have an abscessed tooth which caused all of my other symptoms. I had no idea a tooth could cause so many problems.

Anyway, I'm scheduled for a root canal Monday morning. Until then I'm on steroids, penicillin, loritabs, and ambesol. I am still freaking miserable!

I managed to get about one hour of sleep and now I'm back up and holding an ice pack on my jaw. I just took another Loritab so I'm hoping the pain might go down a notch or to. So far the pain just isn't going away, it just keeps getting worse.

I don't really know the point of this thread, it's kind of just to complain but I figure since I'm up I might as well do something. :headbang2

unlucky mate. thats gonna feel like a long wait til monday for you. good luck with the weekend and hope monday sorts it out.

Thanks, the only good part is that my little rat terrier isn't leaving my side. She's sleeping like a baby but she's still right here with me. I figured she would be upstairs in bed with my wife but she has decided that I need the company I reckon. She can be a sweet little thing when she wants to. :D

I'm being as courteous as I can be to my wife, she's staying upstairs in bed and I'm hanging out on the couch so that I don't keep her up. I could go to one of the spare rooms but none of those rooms have TV's. :(

unlucky hows the knee?

They are both still worse than they were before the surgeries. I still can't run, stairs are agonizing, and I can't stand up on the pedals on a bike. I am able to go to the gym and do just about everything except for squats. I can do hack squats but I can't do them with free weights. I have to wrap them pretty tight for leg extensions, hack squats, and leg presses but other than that I get around the gym pretty well.

I've been working on losing the weight that I gained over the winter and that is going pretty well. I've lost 18 pounds so far, still have a ways to go to get back to where I was before I messed my knees up though.

I've pretty much accepted my limitations but I am doing my best to strengthen everything up and hoping to eventually see some improvement.

take some NightQuil knocks me out all the time.

Not a bad idea but I don't know if I should with all the other goodies I'm taking.

Alcohol works best!

Sorry about that brother...keep your chin up, it will get better! I blew apart my right knee on the bike (hit a deer), and I'm riding again. My knee was hurting after surgery, felt sooo much worse, but now I can run, ride, and snowboard again like a pro. It will get better!

you sure have your share of sickness.. between your knee and now your tooth.. feel better soon.... once you get those teeth done you should feel alot better...

You probably won't believe me but I'm generally pretty healthy. This has just been a very rough year. I usually don't miss very much work, I actually hate to miss work. Up until this year I had not taken a complete week of work (at once) since I started working for the government eight years ago.

The good news is that I still have well over 100 hours of sick leave and about 250 hours of vacation leave saved up. After this week I probably won't use any sick leave for a year or so in order to save some up. If I get sick I'll just use vacation time from now on. :D

It's actually kind of sad, generally people get on me for not taking off work enough. Most of the time I take off work is so that I can work for my family business. I actually took a full week vacation this year, first full week vacation I've taken since before I got married nine years ago.
