Working Freshwater Skimmers

I remember reading about these, finally found a link to one.... What do you guys think, they supposedly work well.

There's nothing to think since there's no mention of how these are supposed to work in freshwater. Don't know where you got the impression they work well. The filled cup could be anything (most likely alot of wet foam). The short writeup states that a skimmer with ozone can break down wastes for removal. This isn't new. The main reasons water changes are done instead of using this dual system are:
1. expense - a right-size skimmer/pump/ozone generator can cost as much as your tank/stand.
2. venting requirements - the residual gases from the ozone reactions can kill everyone in the house. Positive external ventilation is a must.
