Hey guys, my bucket for water changes is a 22" x 18" cylinder,

I'm trying to work out how many litres/gallons it holds so I can use the correct amount of water conditioner.

Would be grateful for any help

Cheers

Ah thank you Mr.Reef! :)

If your container is 22" tall and has a diamater of 18" than it's 20 gallons.
If your container is 18" tall and has a diameter of 22" than it's 24 gallons.

I used these calculators to determine the answer:
Volume - http://www.online-calculators.co.uk/volumetric/cylindervolume.php
Cubic Inches to gallons - http://www.metric-conversions.org/volume/cubic-inches-to-uk-gallons.htm

why does that not seem to make sense. the bucket would still have the same ammount of area inside, just diferent dimensions. kinda like how tanks can be different floor plans, but hold the same gallonage.

The formula for volume of a cylinder is pi times radius squared times height
so changing the radius affects the volume more than changing the height
