A 1930 Australian copper penny that values for more than $1million, and gets the distinction of being the world’s most valuable copper coin will be shown off in Melbourne the coming week. It will appear besides Australia’s other rare coins in an exhibition of $4 million at the ANZ bank branch in Collins Street. The coordinator of the show, Belinda Downie stated that the coin happens to be one of the six of its kind, created as a work of art and not to serve as currency. She even revealed that the owner of Australia’s Proof 1930 Penny had declined an offer of $1 million from an interested buyer. Three out of the six coins are in museums, while the others rest with some private collectors. The Dollars and Dumps Exhibition, from 27 November to 30 November, will display coins from the era of 1813 to 1900 and include a collection of some of the initial coins produced in Australia.

That is just nuts. Rare yes, but its just a copper penny much like the other ones you find laying around. Though I am sure many say the samething about our fish.

my great great grandfather left me these books filled with wheat back pennies dating back from 1900, i jus recently began looking at them seeing how much they are worth, i have at least 10 worth around a 600 dollars....kinda weird how a peice of copper can be worth that much

Ya know, my dad gave me a 1905 Indian head pennie (I'm sure it's a wheatie) and I wonder how much it'd be worth, I wouldn't ever sell it though. AND I have a buffalo nickel, don't remember what year.....

Anyways, that's awesome that history is worth so much, lol

Its crazy, people have all that access to money, but they will never be able to get it because they are too determined to hold onto it. CASH IT IN!! GET BIGGER TANKZ!! Either that or put it in one of those penny press thingys, those are so much fun....:p

This reminds me of what one of my uncles did. He had a dollar bill that was worth $200, and he sent it on a big gulp at 7-11.
