... or is there NO MENTION of the World Cup in APF at all?

(Haha, that would also explain my "enforced absence" from the site for the past 3 weeks).

Tonight, it's Germany vs Italy.
And tomorrow, Portugal vs France.

Man, I'll be "glad" when the World Cup is over ... back to normal night life (aka sleeping). Group matches were 9pm, 12midnight & 3am ... and then 11am & 3am for the last16 & Q-finals ... now 3am for the semifinals. Ouch! :-D

Man, considering the big percentage of the APFers are in US, where football (as known everywhere) is known as Soccer and snickered upon (at best) as a weird european and latin american thing :) while the rest of the world is enthralled by it, I am not surprised. I lived football as a child, but after coming to US, it slowly got lost to me, so I am not interested in it, though if I had time, I would love to watch some matches.

Also, I would tape them, but you can't avoid spoilers and watching the matches with knowing results is insane.
 
I've been sucked up in the World Cup spirit. My favorite this year was Brazil, surprised they got their ass kicked by France, although it's happened before. I also hoped Ghana would reach the semi-finals at least, they played great football and I won't be surprised if they climb amongst the top next world cup :-D

Italy beat Germany, what an awesome match. 0-0 and extra periods, then Italy punched in two beautiful goals. I was rooting for Germany, but the way Italy won that match was beautiful! Kudos.

France beat Portugal, looking forward to the final. Hoping France will win... Italy are allowed to win if they play like they played vs. Germany ;)

Norway sucks :-/
 
It was definitely a good effort from a team ranked in the 40's, but I suppose we did have a match-winning coach. Any predictions for the final?
 
Wow, I have been out of this sport since I was a kid , but to see England, Brazil, Argentina and Spain out, and France (not a bad team historically) and Italy (not a huge contender historically) in the final. When is it on? I may watch :)
 
And Italy wins the 2006 World Cup after a penalty shoot-out.

Highlight of the match? Definitely that "stupid head-butt". Sigh. Football, the beautiful game ... and the ugly side of football. I was rooting for France, but Italy do deserve it after playing well too.

Now, if only the referee didn't award that penalty to Italy (vs Aust) ... I was rooting for the Aust team too. ;(

Here's to the 2010 World Cup @ South Africa!
